Dear
Friends,
Pat
Bond was a beloved comedienne, monologist and playwright who toured the country
and introduced many individuals to gay theater. In 1978, Pat was interviewed
for the landmark documentary about gay people, Word is Out. In her later
years, she was forgotten by her community and died in 1990. The Pat Bond Memorial Old Dyke Awards were
inspired by her unique spirit, and are intended to ensure that the work done by
old lesbians does not continue to go unrecognized.
We’d
like your help in keeping the Pat Bond Memorial Old Dyke Awards alive. A
website has been developed to get the word
out about these awards and highlight the achievements of deserving old
lesbians in the Bay Area community.
Please
join us in recognizing the invaluable work of old lesbians by supporting the Pat Bond Memorial Old Dyke Awards at
the Platinum ($1000), Angel ($500), Benefactor ($250), Sponsor
($125), Supporter ($75) or Friend ($50) level. For your generous
contribution, your name will be prominently listed in the program and you’ll
also receive two tickets to the event. But
more importantly, you will be honoring the work and the lives of old lesbians.
Additionally,
web sponsorships are available on our site.
Funds donated for banners and links will be used to maintain the site
and support the awards ceremony. Free
links are available to non-profit organizations. Businesses may donate $50
or individuals may donate $20 for a link on the page. Banners and links will run until December
2008.
